Caroline Polachek began her career in the indie duo Chairlift, but has branched out into the pop world as a songwriter for Beyoncé, Travis Scott and Charli XCX. On her second official solo album, Desire I Want To Turn Into You, she successfully avoids clichés, but might have squeezed too many ideas into her songs.

Executives were grilled on Capitol Hill and our guest this week was there to listen.
