Obituary: David Crosby

cros

David Crosby was a zelig-like figure in the 1960s rock world. A founding member of The Byrds and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, he was involved in many major hit songs. He also worked with Joni Mitchell and The Grateful Dead at pivotal times in their careers. He was also known for being cantankerous and sometimes difficult to work with, though in his later years he is said to have softened. Crosby died January 18 at age 81.

Marty Perez is a music photographer who has captured transition times in the Seattle and Chicago music scenes in his more than 40 year long career. His first book of photography was just released: “Kill A Punk For Rock And Roll” by Hozac Publishing. He talks with hosts Jim DeRogatis and Greg Kot about how the photography industry has changed over the years and what made him fall in love with rock photography in the first place.

Dear Listeners,

For more than 15 years, Sound Opinions was a production of WBEZ, Chicago's public radio station. Now that the show is independent, we're inviting you to join the band and lend a hand! We need your support more than ever because now we have to do all the behind-the-scenes work that WBEZ handled before (like buying insurance and paying for podcast hosting, ugh). Plus, we have some exciting ideas we'd like to try now that there's no one to tell us no!
