Blue Rev Alvvays
Canadian indie pop band Alvvays [Always] recently released their third album, Blue Rev. It adds more shoegaze influence to their catchy songwriting for what Jim calls their strongest album. Greg admires the harder edge compared to their previous albums.
In These Times Makaya McCraven
Percussionist Makaya McCraven's new album In These Times goes beyond the genre label of jazz. The title references the post-production manipulation of time signatures McCraven did after recording live sessions with a group of top tier musicians.
Nnamdï
Nnamdï is a Chicago artist who is not constrained by genre. The multi-instrumentalist is a whirlwind of musical creativity and his latest album Please Have A Seat could be his best yet. Jim and Greg talk about his inspirations and their common interest in Looney Tunes composer Carl Stalling.
Obituary: Mimi Parker of Low
Mimi Parker of Low died in early November of ovarian cancer at the age of 55. The drummer and vocalist made music as Low for 29 years with her husband, Alan Sparhawk. Greg especially was emotionally affected by news of her death.

Dear Listeners,
For more than 15 years, Sound Opinions was a production of WBEZ, Chicago's public radio station. Now that the show is independent, we're inviting you to join the band and lend a hand! We need your support more than ever because now we have to do all the behind-the-scenes work that WBEZ handled before (like buying insurance and paying for podcast hosting, ugh). Plus, we have some exciting ideas we'd like to try now that there's no one to tell us no!
